Saint Thomas Health is a member of Ascension Health, the largest nonprofit healthcare system in the United States. To help our more than 105,000 dedicated physicians and associates best serve our patients, we actively leverage our system's size to reduce our overall expenses while providing clinically excellent patient care. We do so in large part by seeking system wide agreements with suppliers in select products and service categories.
But at Saint Thomas Health and Ascension Health, it's about more than that. As a Mission-focused organization, we seek more than just value from suppliers with which we partner. We're also about values – principles rooted in our identity as a Catholic ministry and our commitment to continuing the work of our sponsors. We have high expectations of all of our suppliers – expectations related to such things as corporate integrity, cooperation and respect.
In order to reduce confusion, eliminate distractions, and provide the best service possible, we have implemented a new Vendor Policy and Procedures guide and have partnered with Vendor Credentialing Service (VCS) in implementing that policy. As has always been the case, we place the utmost priority on the safety of our patients and staff and see the VCS system as a wonderful tool in the safeguarding process. Although VCS provides a number of supportive educational services beyond the scope of our policies, please understand that Saint Thomas Health and Ascension Health do not enjoy benefit from the purchase of those services.
Vendor representatives should utilize one of several new kiosks located in the facilities when they enter and exit the premises. For after-hours admittance, vendor representatives should sign in and out through the local security office.
It is imperative that all vendors wishing to place their products within our facilities first have a national contract in place with Ascension Health for the relevant materials. If you do not currently have a contract in place, please contact the national office of The Resource Group at (888) 315-5055.
