University of Tennessee Residency Program

Tracey DoeringWelcome to the University of Tennessee/ Baptist Hospital, Nashville internal medicine residency program. Established in 1982, the major thrust of the program is to develop superb physicians in internal medicine. The internal medicine program provides the foundation which ensures residents' access to wide-ranging career options. Graduates of the program are qualified to pursue careers in general internal medicine, hospital medicine or enter subspecialty fellowship programs. The faculty is committed to enabling each of our residents to fulfill their personal and professional goals.

Program Highlights

  • Humanism Scholarship - This monetary scholarship of $10,000 will be awarded to an incoming PGY-1 resident for recognition of a commitment to humanism in medicine, encompassing altruism, respect, empathy, integrity, compassion and service. Click here for more information.
  • 93% ABIM pass rate over the past 3 years
  • Of recent graduates: 31% entered subspecialty fellowship programs; 44% chose general internal medicine; 25% chose hospitalist medicine
  • UT Baptist residents enjoy an excellent quality of life, having no on-call or weekend responsibilities while on subspecialty rotations
  • Moonlighting opportunities for PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents
